Professor Akgun is a Medical Doctor, Professor of Public Health in Baskent University School of Medicine with more than 30 plus years of strong experience in data management, statistical analyses, quality and accreditation in health care, patient safety and epidemiological studies including the assessment of burden of diseases and health and nutritional status indices and migrant health. She is also a quality expert and serving Baskent University as their Chief Quality Officer for the 10 hospitals, 16 hemodialysis centers that belong to the University since 1997. During the past 15 plus years, Professor Akgun has been serving as a consultant in health sector reform projects, system assessments, quality in healthcare, accreditation, gap analyses, performance measurements and refugee health. The variety of research topics she has addressed with the collaboration of several international technical supports demonstrates the wide scope of her interests in public and migrant health and her commitment to a comprehensive and holistic approach to health issue. She is currently Member of Management Committee, Country Representative and head of Public Health standards and principles in another COST project, "ADAPT" "Adapting European health systems to diversity”. She was country coordinator on a DG Sanco project on "Information network on good practice in health care for migrants and minorities in Europe”, acronym: MIGHEALTHNET. "Public health actions to address wider determinants of health: social determinants of health", Programme of community action in the field of public health (2003-2008), Turkey representative, member of management committee on information network on good practice in health care for migrants and minorities in Europe, member of management committee and researcher at 7 working group between the years 2007 and 2011. She is currently working with MoH, Turkey on Syrian Refugees health. She also worked on Mipex study and some other projects with IOM related migrant and refugee health in Turkey. She did many presentations on Syrian Refugee health and Turkish government response, epidemiological and economical impact of Syrian Refugees on Turkish Health Care system at many international conferences in US, Mexico, Europe etc. She serves many European, Turkish and international organizations as their advisor on healthcare reform, quality in healthcare, accreditation in health and higher education, migrant health, community nutrition, system assessment and monitoring. She led a number of projects in the Middle East and Mediterranean Region (Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait, Jordan, and Turkey); Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan) and Europe including projects supported by World Bank, EU and WHO on system reform and evaluation of alternative care delivery models and mechanisms, performance assessment, hospital surveying, patient care outcomes assessment, migrant health, burden of disease among many more such projects. She has also PhD in Community Nutrition and been selected as an evaluator in 2000, to evaluate the proposals submitted in response to the call EU F5-F7 Frameworks and Horizon 2020, Food Quality and Safety, Public and Mİgrant Health and Marie Curie by the European Union Commission and COST and since then evaluating many EU projects under different topics.

Dr. Allen C. Meadors has served as President of St. John International University in Italy; Executive Director of the Higher Education Coordination Council in the United Arab Emirates (UAE); President of the University of Central Arkansas; Chancellor of University of North Carolina- Pembroke (UNCP) and Penn State Altoona; Senior Fellow for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and Dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma. He has also served as President of an American University in Italy and as the Associate Editor of “Frontiers in Public Health” and “Frontiers in Education” both International on-line professional journals. Dr. Meadors has also been a Senior Executive Search Consultant for Academic Career and Executive Search, an international search firm. He serves on the Advisory Board of The Edu Alliance Group.

Born in Lisbon - Portugal, Goncalo Placido is a Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing with a broad expertise in medical and surgical contexts such as Primary Care, Peri-Operative Nursing, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, Cardiology and Emergency Nursing. Goncalo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing awarded by the Nursing School of Lisbon, a Master’s Degree in Nursing along with a Specialization in Medical Surgical Nursing awarded by the Portuguese Catholic University of Lisbon, and a Master in Business Administration in Healthcare Services’ Management and Administration by COGNOS – Training and Professional Development. Currently works as the Assistant Head Nurse for the Adult Medical Cardiology Unit at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) – Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Throughout his diverse career path, Goncalo has permanently and consistently prioritized patient safety as a critical strategy, being, at the moment, involved in different activities to support the Hospital’s commitment to achieve Zero-Harm in patient care, by becoming a High Reliable Organization.

Built a community tobacco prevention center in the Island of Gotland south east of Sweden. Work as a health promotion planner including tobacco prevention and tobacco cessation since 25 years. She is the Chair of Nurses against Tobacco and serves on the Board of Health Professionals against Tobacco in Sweden.

Engaged in the field of tobacco prevention since 30 years. Working with tobacco prevention in Stockholm County focused on cessation, education and research. Responsible for the operation of the Swedish stop smoking line.

Asssitant Medical Director for Quality and Accreditation Dr. Aliah is a member of the royal collage of surgeon of Glasgow, FRCS holding a position of associate consultant in general surgery with over 20 years experience, in general surgery and surgical trauma. She held a position of Assistant Quality and patient safety director from 2003 then became Quality and patient Safety Director in 2010, together with her clinical position. She was certified by the Healthcare Quality Certification Board (HQCB), USA, as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) in May 2004, and Certified Hospital Survey from Oklahoma University, USA Dec.2004, She is a hospital Accreditation Specialist, Consultant and a Medical Surveyor with the Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institution (CBAHI), KSA, 2007. She is affiliated instructor in Total Quality Management Diploma with the American University in Cairo, 2010; just recently, she joined the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) as an International surveyor (ACHSI) in 2014.
